Compute servers at the CIP

There are two compute servers available, which can be used according to prior agreement with the computer administration group. The user regulations apply in order to prevent an unnecessary strain of the computers.

You can usually log in via SSH (e.g. ssh -Y username@Wendelstein) with your LMU identification of the CIP.
Thereby the home directory is mounted, as on every other computer of the CIP.

Furthermore there is a file called /project/cip-compute available for the temporary storage of outcomes of your computing jobs.

If you want to log in to the SSH from at home, you will first have to log in to one of the CIP workstations and then connect to a compute server from there.

The compute servers are:

Zugspitze cip-sv-compute1.cip.physik.uni-muenchen.de
Wendelstein cip-sv-compute2.cip.physik.uni-muenchen.de

Hardware equipment:

  • Name: Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX2540
  • Processor: 2 x Intel Xeon E5-2650v3
  • RAM: 16 x 16 DDR4
  • SSD disks: 2 x 100GB Raid 1 mirrored
  • Network connection: 10GBit Ethernet
