Printing (A4)
Several laser printers for DIN-A4-format printing are available in each CIP room:

Usage
Linux
You can send print jobs from any application. When selecting a printer you will notice that two virtual printers are installed for each real printer. The virtual printer with the ending simplex is by default set to simplex printing, the other one to duplex printing.
You can also print files by typing the following command into the console:
lpr -P printer name file name
Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Windows Terminal Server)
You can send print jobs from any application running on Windows. However, select only the printers "\\cip-cups\printer name" or "\\cip-cups2\printer name".
Managing print jobs
Linux
To have a personalized printing queue displayed, start a program: Start -> Applications -> Utilities -> Manage Print Jobs.
Using the console, you can view the complete queue:
lpq -P printer name
You can delete a print job (after identifying the job ID using the above command):
lprm -P printer name job ID
Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Windows Terminal Server)
To have the printing queue displayed, select in the Start-/Program menu Printers and Devices and double-click on the desired printer.
Fees
As toner costs much more than paper, fees are always based on the number of pages printed. This means that the prices for duplex printing are the same as for simplex printing.
- black/white printing: 3 cents for each page
- color printing: 10 cents for each page

The fees will be charged on your personal current account, which you can view at
This page can only be accessed by students and staff of the Faculty of Physics, who log in using their LMU names. You can make payments to be credited to your printing account at the CIP 1 administrator room during opening hours. Receipts can be issued.
Furthermore, each student gets an allowance of 18€ for each semester, which can, however, not be saved over several semesters.
