Introduction for students to the CIP pool computers

Students of the Faculty of Physics are welcome to an introductory course on the use of the CIP pool computers.

In a two-hour course students of the Faculty of Physics will be introduced to the use of the CIP pool computers, which are avalable to them in the CIP rooms at Schellingstraße 4 und Theresienstraße. The course will also include an introduction to the Linux operating system and the IT services provided by the Faculty of Physics. 

The three instructors are members of the computer administration group that is responsible for the operation of the students' computer pool (CIP pool).

These are the topic they will talk about:

- Desktop, Usability & CIP (part I):

- Command line wizardry (part II):

- Internet, SSH, Telnet (part III)

The course will be held on two alternative dates:

  • Friday, Oct 21, 2011, 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct 26, 2011, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Venue (on both days): CIP pool at Schellingstraße 4, room H037, ground floor.

No registration necessary. The course will be video-recorded. Basic Windows knowledge is required.
