New home directory servers
We are currently switching to new servers for the home directories.

We are currently relocating the home directories onto new servers.
With those new servers, we are changing from one central file server to seperate servers which are distributed among the different sites. The reason for this lies mainly in the disruptive latency time which occured in distant sites like Garching. In addition, we will reach a higher throughput of the individual servers.
Moreover, the new servers provide additional features like the new ZFS file system. It is able to, for example, regularly inspect the properness of saved data. This means that there will be more snapshots visible for users which are also directly accessible.
Users at Garching have already completely moved onto the server gar-sv-home01.
Users at Salinenhof as well as students are currently being moved onto the server z-sv-pool01.
Users from ASC: The acquisition of the new server is under way.
